Back to School: What Is it Like So Far?

This is the fifth week for me as a student again. I started my doctorral studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) after leaving grad school for more than two years. So, how is it feeling so far? mmmm a bit of many things together. I feel excited about being a student again and the fact that I'm taking my first steps toward my PhD. I also feel worried if I'm still able to be a student and take all that anxiety again. Time will tell. I'm interested in the courses I'm taking this semester with a refreshing course on research methodology and a fun, eye opening course on technology and a heavy course on theories. Yeah, it's all over the place.

The good thing about being a student again, this time thousands of miles away from home, is that I'm having the great support of my professors as well as the nice company of nice colleagues. I'm really enjoying both so far.

So, what's next? Next is the time for real work, not that I haven't been doing real work for the last four weeks, but let me put it this way: for the last four weeks, I've been using my receptive skills most of the time, reading and listening. Now, it's time to transfer that to the productive skills, writing and speaking. How does that work? I've been reading tons of articles on different things for my three classes; I've heard a lot of lecturing and class discussions on these, too. Let the fun start now!! It's time to start writing papers in which I incorporate what my receptive senses got. Let's wait and see what my senses really got and how the other senses will make use of that.
